this weeks bible study

this weeks bible study come from Acts 8:29-30 I am not going to spell out the whole story but if you want you can go and read the whole thing, actually you should read the whole story some day.  The verse says “ The spirit told Philip, go to that chariot and stay near it.  Then philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet.  Do you understand what you are reading? philip asked.”   The funniest part about this whole story is the command given by the spirit He says go to that chariot and stay near it.  Well if I was Philip I would of been like and. . . ok so you want me just to go up to the chariot and stand near it?  Sounds a little weird, but we notice in the very next verse what does Philip do?  He obeys the command given by the spirit.  Some times we hear almost like little voices inside of us telling us something to do, well this happened to me one time I saw this man on a bike and he fell and spilt his coffee all over himself and a voice inside of me just told me to go up to him and offer to get him some food or another coffee.  So we went and got another coffee and started talking and he told me that he hadn’t eaten supper so we went to panera bread and got a sandwich.  We continued talking and then at the end I asked him if he knew Jesus and he said that he did and started talking about his story.  Anyways the reason why I am telling you this story is because are called to act when we hear or sense the spirits leading.  In the bible passage we see that philip does not hesitate even though it may seem like a weird request he goes and finds out that he is needed in that situation.  If philip did not act the chariot may have left and the man may have never learned about the word of God, and who knows what the consequense could have been not only for the person in the chariot but maybe even for philip.  The bible talks a whole bunch about helping out those in need and to sense the spirit leading you to those people, so the next time that you feel a voice telling you to act don’t just walk on by but actually go out and act upon that leading. 

Artist of the week

this weeks artist is switchfoot now everyone has probably heard meant to live and maybe a couple other songs by them.  But they are a christian band and they give a great message in their songs here is one of my favorite songs by them I hope that you guys like it, it is called 24

Artist of the week (instead of month)

This week is a group named relient K they are sort of like a punk style band.  I really like them, they are on my ipod and it is a good change from the music I usually listen to.  I picked college kids cause I think that it is pretty funny and this video that I found on youtube was pretty funny too. I hope that you enjoy it!!!!
