About The AVSA

AVSA stands for Allegheny Valley Salvation Army.  We are located at 917 Brackenridge Ave.  in Brackenridge, This is our youth BLOG.  We want the title of the BLOG to really rain true in all the youth that enter our building, whether it is for one of our community center programs or for our church programs.  The name came from a study in Matthew basically it is talking about falling a sleep, the verses are talking about falling asleep and then the enemy comming.  This is where the vulnerable part comes in,  when are we the most vulnerable?  For most people it is when we are sleeping, there is not much we can protect ourselves against if we are sleeping.  It is the same way with our spiritual life if we are asleep at the wheel so to say that is when we are vulnerable for an attack from the enemy.  That is why it is so key for us as youth to stay awake meaning reading the bible, praying, fellowshiping with other beleivers, having christian mentors, etc. . .
